The cantata and oratorio works of Jan Hanuš: musical-historical context and pedagogical use

The thesis consciously builds on previous literature devoted to the life and work of Jan Hanuš, a significant 20th-century Czech composer. It focuses on his cantata and oratorio works, which form a distinctive part of the author's legacy. The thesis aims not only to study the defined area of interest from due theoretical perspectives, but also to intervene in relevant related practical fields: the field of artistic interpretation and the field of music pedagogy. The first, theoretically focused goal is to map the entire defined area of Hanuš's output in the context of musical and social development during the 20th century, in the context of related music by other Czech composers, and in the context of Hanuš's personal compositional development. The second goal is to bring one of the selected works, Poselství: svědectví o smrti Jana Palacha (The Legacy: A Testimony on the Death of Jan Palach) from 1969, to a world premiere in the symbolic and social context that the work deserves. The third goal is to create didactic material that uses the specifics of the studied area of Hanuš's work to bring the musical language of contemporary artificial music closer to today's students of general music education. F. X. Brixi's Oratorium pro die sacro parasceves

The thesis deals with the musical and stylistic analysis of the F. X. Brixi's oratorio Judas Iscariothes, that was preserved in the Osek Monastery under the name Oratorio pro die sacro parasceves. The first part of the thesis describes the musical history, preserved music sources and inventories of Osek. The next section deals with the oratorio in Osek. The main point of this chapter is to inventory oratorio productions performed in Osek during the 18th and early 19th century. The key part of the thesis is the musical and style analysis of the oratorio Judas Iscariothes. Appendix contains the edition of this oratorio.
Oratorio Santa Cecilia by Antonio Draghi

The bachelor thesis deals with the oratorio Santa Cecilia by Antonio Draghi (1634 - 1700). The paper also summarizes the present knowledge about Draghi and his work, deals with the origins of the oratorio in Italy and the adoption and development of its tradition in Vienna during the 17th century. The thesis also focuses on the legend of Saint Cecily as a theme in music and includes the edition of selected arias and one ensemble of this oratorio. The analysis of sepolcri by Jiří Ignác Linek

The author of the thesis wants to examine the applicability of the concept of galant style as presented by Robert Gjerdingen in his treatise Music in the Galant Style (2007). As a musical material which he wants to analyze by using the mentioned concept he chooses three extant sepolcros by a schoolmaster from Bakov nad Jizerou Jiří Ignác Linek (1725-1791). Further, he deals with a thesis by Eva Tomandlová (1934- 2010) written in the late 1950's that had these sepolcros as its subject. Thus, at presenting Gjerdingen's approach and its specific possibilities, the author can make use of comparison with a method which can be considered an exemplar of the prevailing analytical tradition. (in English): The work deals with the musical life in Prague Loreto in the 18th century. Contains the state of research, historical introduction focusing on musical life, musicians and oratorio production on this pilgrimage site based on research in the Capuchin annals. Analyzes anonymous oratorio Das siebenfältig Verunreinigte 1746 from Loreto music collection in aspects of compositional technique and dramaturgy of the libretto. In four selected parts brings a deeper analysis of the work.
